U.P. Government To Provide Financial Support To ’15 Lakh Daily Wagers’ And Over ’20 Lakh Construction Workers’

Since the state is going through lockdowns amidst COVID-19, 15 lakh daily wage labourers and 20.37 lakh construction workers would get the assistance. An amount of Rs 1, 000 would be credited to their bank accounts through DBT (Direct benefit transfer mechanism).

Those who fall outside this category and are not covered under any scheme nor have permanent employment would also be given assistance. Such, people would also be given Rs 1,000 each from the money drawn from the ‘State Contingency Fund‘. The announcements were made by CM Yogi in an address to the public on Saturday.
Free of cost ‘ration’ would also be provided to ‘BPL’ (Below Poverty Line) ration cardholders. The state so far has recorded 23 cases of coronavirus. In total India has reported over 280 cases and 5 deaths due to coronavirus.
