After ‘Railways’, All ‘Domestic Passenger Flights’ Suspended In India
After the cancellation of all passenger trains till 31st March, another big step came in on Monday. The Central government has decided to suspend all ‘Domestic Passenger’ flights in India. The International flights to India are already suspended since midnight on 22nd March.

The domestic flights would remain suspended from Wednesday that is 24th March onwards. The decision is taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As per reports various state government including the ‘West Bengal’ requested the central government to take the necessary step.

Earlier Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued guidelines on social distancing to airlines & airport operators. As per that guidelines 1 seat is to be left empty between 2 passengers onboard flights. All the major modes of transports including the ‘state roadways’ buses, railways and Metros are already suspended till 31st March.
The stoppage of ‘domestic passenger’ flights would be for an indefinite period as no timeline of resumption is defined. With this, all major modes of transportation within the country stand suspended. The stricter measures are imposed to avoid situations like Europe and Iran due to COVID-19.
The stopping of ‘domestic flights’ would take place from Tuesday midnight. Meanwhile, cargo flights would operate to maintain the supply of essential items within the country.
